To register to vote in Clark County you must:
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be at least sixteen years old.
- Be a resident of Clark County
- Not be disqualified from voting due to a court order
- Not currently serving a sentence of total confinement under the jurisdiction of the department of corrections for a Washington felony conviction, and not currently incarcerated for a federal or out-of-state felony conviction
Political parties: Voters do not register for a political party in the state of Washington.
Unhoused Voters and Voters with Nontraditional Addresses
Voters that are unhoused may use a non-traditional address by listing the location in which they spend the majority of their time (landmarks, cross streets, etc.). Voters without traditional addresses can register using any identifiable location that they consider their residence. Ballots can be received at PO boxes, shelters, the address of a friend or relative, or via general delivery.
Three ways to register
- Online if you have a Washington State ID, Washington State Driver's License or provide the last four of your social security number.
- In Person at the Clark County Elections Office at 1408 Franklin Street, Vancouver, WA (map)
- By Mail with a voter registration form available by mail or download from the Office of the Secretary of State, or you may find them at the following locations:
- Library branches
- Public schools
- City and town halls
- Auto licensing subagencies
- Driver licensing offices - register to vote when you apply for your driver license
You must provide all of the following information when you register to vote:
- Legal name
- Date of birth
- Residential address in Clark County
- Mailing address, if not the same as residential address
- Washington driver license number, ID card number or the last four digits of your Social Security number (ID is required in order to cast a ballot.)
- Signature
Political parties: Voters do not register for a political party in the state of Washington.

Registration deadlines during an election
If you are currently registered to vote in Washington state and would like to register to vote in Clark County: You may register to vote online, in person, or by mail up to 8 days before Election Day. If you miss the 8-day cutoff, you must come in person to our office at 1408 Franklin Street in Vancouver to register. You have until 8 pm on election night to register to vote or update your address for the current election.
If you are not currently registered to vote in Washington state: You may register to vote online, in person, or by mail up to 8 days before Election Day. If you miss the 8-day cutoff, you may register to vote up to 8 pm on Election Day as long as you fill out and submit your registration form in person at the Clark County Elections Office.
Restoration of civil rights to people convicted of a felony
If you were convicted of a felony in a Washington State court, your right to vote is restored automatically once you are no longer under the authority of Department of Corrections (DOC) (in prison or on community custody). If you have questions about your status please contact DOC.
If you were convicted of a felony in another state or in federal court, your right to vote is restored automatically as long as you are not currently incarcerated for that felony.
You do not lose the right to vote for a misdemeanor conviction or a conviction in juvenile court.
You do not need a certificate of discharge (COD) to have your voting rights restored.
Once your right to vote is restored, you must register in order to vote.

Some things to know about voting in Clark County
Election dates: General Elections are held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday of November. Primaries are held on the first Tuesday of August. Special elections may be held in February or April. See the elections calendar for exact dates.
Partisan and nonpartisan elections: Generally, all races in odd-year Primaries and General Elections are for nonpartisan local positions in cities and towns, school districts, fire districts, cemetery districts, sewer districts and port districts. Races in even-year Primaries and General Elections are for partisan positions in legislative, state and federal jurisdictions as well as for partisan and nonpartisan positions in the county.
